Runescape Cheat

Like any computer game, players have found ways to exploit RuneScape, resulting in a list of cheat codes or ways to modify the game.  Some of these cheats give the player an unfair advantage; others simply allow players to change things like text color.  Players can find many of these cheat codes very easily, but true gamers should refrain from using any cheat codes that give them an unfair advantage.  Besides being unfair, the RuneScape staff does not allow cheats like this to be used in the game.

RuneScape cheats are available all over the internet.  A simple search for “RuneScape Cheats,” in fact, will result in thousands of hits.  Some of the webpages that come up don’t really offer cheats per se; rather, they host a number of hints, tips, and other advice for players.  These websites often list things that can give the player an advantage, but they are tips that any player can make use of.  Others are simply harmless ways of customizing the game a bit, like the cheat that enables players to type in different colored text.

Many RuneScape cheats are the result of players looking for a way to circumvent a very tedious task, such as making money.  One cheat found on the internet makes use of a strange bug in the game to get the player three gold pieces every 30 seconds.  By standing in the corner of a specific room in West Varrock, the player will gain three gold pieces at a regular interval.  Like many cheats, this one doesn’t have the player doing anything illegal, it simply makes use of an error in the game.  And like many cheats, it can become tedious itself, because it takes quite a while to amass a fortune three gold pieces at a time!  Another similar cheat involves Lumbridge Castle and a room in which, if a player waits long enough, a bronze dagger will appear.

These types of cheats are, for the most part, benign, and any player can take advantage of them.  However, other cheats are not as obvious.  One money-making cheat involves the player messaging the Jagex IRC to receive illegal money.  Other cheats may involved actually editing downloaded game and character files to illegally increase a character’s skills or gold.  These types of cheats are frowned upon by the RuneScape staff, and players who are found to be using them may be banned from the game.

While the word “cheat” is generally negative, some RuneScape cheats are things players should not feel guilty about using.  Changing text color, for example, is not going to impact their gaming ability in any way.  While cheats like receiving free money for standing in a certain place may seem a bit unfair, players need only remember that the game staff most likely knows about cheats of this kind.  Gamers should only be wary of exploiting cheats that involve directly manipulating the game in a way that results in an unfair advantage for their character.
