| Levelling cooking and fishing guide(F2P) Levelling cooking and fishing guide Note: the focus in this guide is on fishing, and getting cooking up alongside. Hello! Are your cooking and fishing skills far behind, or maybe you are just starting Runescape? Try and get both these skills up with my guide! Starting off. Small net fishing You'll want a small fishing net, as explained in the tutorial on tutorial island. ![]() You get one on tutorial island, but you may always visit the fishing shop in Port Sarim to get a new one for 5gp, or if you are a member the shop in Catherby is nice too. For starting out, go to Al kharid(pay 10gp for the toll or walk around, unless you have done Prince Ali Rescue) and walk all the way south (NOT through the Shantay Pass) until you reach a body of water. You can fish here, but beware of the scorpions if you are low combat level. Try catching some shrimps, and cooking them at the range north of the bank. ![]() Do this until you are at least level 10 fishing and cooking. Your fishing will probably be higher since you burn food often(and get no experience). You may now continue catching shrimp till level 15 fishing, at that point you can catch anchovies. They heal slightly more than shrimps, but still aren't great food. ![]() Bait fishing If you choose to go directly to the next step, there is also bait fishing. For this you will need a fishing rod(a normal one), so visit your trusty fishing shops in Port Sarim or Catherby. You also need fishing bait, you can buy it from the stores or kill zombies to get it. You can now catch sardine and herring .Later on you'll be able to catch Pike(at fishing 25) using the same method. A good place to fish these is Draynor village, though there is no range, so you'll have to make a fire with logs and a tinderbox. Get your fishing and cooking to at least 20(but more is better) and then you can start the next step. Fly fishing For fly fishing, you need a fly fishing rod and feathers. You can get both these items from your fishing shops in Port Sarim and Catherby, and feathers may also be dropped by chickens. A good location to do this is Lumbridge river(if you have done Cook's assistant) or Barbarian village river(it's the same river, but another fishing spot). At 20 you can catch trout and at 30 you'll get a fair share of salmon when you fish. Get your fishing and cooking to 35+. Remember to cook ALL fish, not simply drop them. The key is raising your fishing as well as your cooking. Keep going! You're almost at the point where you can make big profits! Harpoon fishing ![]() All you need is a harpoon , you don't need bait for this method. Now firstly, members have a HUGE advantage over F2P harpoon fishers. The only F2P location for harpooning is Karamja, which has no range and you need to pay 30coins each time you use the boat to get back to the mainland. There are also no or few trees to chop down, so I recommend bringing 2-3 logs and a tinderbox. So F2P players go to Karamja, while members can visit Catherby, the Fishing Guild, Relekka, the fishing platform and more. At 35, you'll catch only tuna, which is my so-called Junkfood. I keep a lot of these in my bank, and whenever I'm on low hp I eat some of these(10hp each). Tuna gives some good xp, so get your levels to 40 and then you can cheer. ![]() Hurrah! You managed it! Now you can fish for profit!(explained later) Lobster pot fishing ![]() You need level 40 fishing to catch lobsters with a lobster pot and level 40 cooking to cook these. Again, the only F2P spot is in Karamja, so go there and catch lobsters(lobbies for short) in your pot. Try to take as many as possible each trip, since they're worth quite a lot of money for such a simple thing. These heal 12 hp each, so they're quite good food. Catch a lot of lobsters for personal use and for selling, until you reach fishing and cooking 55. Now you're going to catch the best non-member food: Swordfish. Catching swordfish Swordfish, swordie for short, is really good. The only downside is you need to catch them with harpoons, so you'll get tunas too(the Junkfood). For F2P, just cook your tuna's on someone else's fire(or your own, doesn't matter) and sell some to the general store in Karamja, to repay your retour ticket on the boat(30 coins). That way you save a bit of money  If you have done Cook's assistant, you may consider fishing raw swordfish and depositing them in your bank. After you're done fishing, go to the top of lumbridge castle and withdraw all your swordies from the bank. Use the range in the kitchen of the castle(this burns less food) and depositing it back in the bank and repeat. ![]() Congratualations! You have now reached a decent fishing level, good enough to catch ALL F2P fish! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fishing for profit tips: *Lobbies and swordies sell the best and are quite easy to acquire. *Tuna doesn't sell that good. *Runescape prices are dynamic, but mostly lobbies will sell for 100-150 gp each and swordies go out for 250-300gp. |

I have to dissappoint you Mongo Mono, I didn't create the name with that intention :D In my language(dutch) a 'mongool' is a person of lesser intellect, and a quite popular swearing word. I'm so intrigued by the word I simply had to use it :) It's like dumbass, only better :P |
