I need help

I really dont get the fishing concept. I know how to fish using the small net, but what do I do with the bait? Where I get fishing rod? Also how do I get my crafting up?

Well crafting is one of the hardest skills to get up becuase you have little to do when you start out. Just be patient.
As for fishing- you can get everything you need for that skill at Port Sarim. There is bait and there are poles and some fishing spots a bit south. There are (for f2p) three types of spots:
- You can bait and net at one
- You can fly fish at another
- You can cage and harpoon at the last
As long as you know where to go you'll be fine. runhq.com has skill guides that'll tell you everything you need to know.

You need needles and thread, for the armour section, you need wet clay to be able to use the crafting equiptment at Barbarian village, You need moulds for jewerly, and you can get most of the crafting stuff at Al Kharid, including a hide tanner.

Net - Shrimp Anchovies - Al Kharid
Fishing Rod & Bait - Sardine, Herring, Pike - Port Sarim
Fly-Fishing Rod & Feathers - Trout, Salmon - Barbarian Village
Harpoon - Tuna, Swordfish - Karamja Docks
Lobster Cage - Lobsters - Karamja Docks

Catching the fish is easy, just right-click the fishing spot and choose the the type of fishing you want to do.

To get crafting up in F2P

Start of making simple things like pots, pie dishes, bowls etc
These can be made by mining clay, adding water to soften it then using with the pottery wheel in barbarian village

If pottery's not your cup of tea then try leather working to make boots, gloves, ranging armour etc.
These can be made by first getting cow hides (lumby cowfield), go to al kharid tannery and get him to make you soft leathr (hard leather for higher lvl stuff) and then use a needle & thread and your on your way

You can also use gold/silver to make jewellery such as rings, necklaces or amulets. Plus cutting the gems gives you crafting xp aswell.

Well thats what i thought off from the top of my head ... :D

EDIT: plz correct me if i got anything wrong. long time since i did any of this stuff! (i dont fish/cook i steal cakes, i dont craft F2P style i make bs & cut the occaisonal gems i get from random events :) )

omg! are you serious? lols as much as i hate the word Noob, newb, nub. that was funny!!

Orag, bait is for river fishing and sea fishing (correct me if i'm wrong). Fishing rod is when you use it with bait, while Fly fishing rod you use it with feathers.

also, to get your crafting up, i first suggest you spin wool, or make soft clay then fire it up. then after you get a few levels collect cowhides and tan them and make into soft leather.. blah blah.. (to make gloves, boots, such leather things, you need thread, and a needle. you can get threads from the crafting store in rimmington along with the jewlery moulds) so on. and check on your jewlery section, mining gold gives you exp for mining, smelting exp for smithing, and crafting exp when you either craft it with gems or plain gold itself. keep in mind that if you make saphire/emerald/ruby/diamond rings/necklaces/amulets, you need a ring mould for rings, necklace mould for necklaces and amulet mould WITH 1 ball of wool. ( you get ball of wool after you spin wool)

Also, if you're a member, you can get your crafing up to level 50 easily by spinning flax. It's also a hefty way of making money.

I agree with Ladii and Bob
Leathers give good exp by making armours that give 17exp each (correct me if im wrong) and also u gain exp in combat lvl by fighting cows
