Guthans are rising to 6m at the moment. If you can afford it it's fine, but if you need some few more mil to get there, just forget it.
As for monkfish, you know you have to finish Swan Song to get there, right'? Well anyways, good luck, I guess the only options you got now are woodcutting, fishing, merchanting, or treasure trails.
If you complete Royal Trouble, a nice side treat would be to set herbs on max, and coal on half in your miscellencia kingdom management resources, have rating 100%, put in 1m in teh coffers, and come back in a week (I usually make 1m-1.5m profit a week from this combo, but if you find one you like better, its okay).
Note: Yeah, pretty much all the good things in the game require questing :(
