yeah, that is the whole reason and it was also because of scamming. and that is what i think too
some ppl think mingames like clan wars and bounty hunter replace it. but they dont. they are just minigames

I explained it already.

When you kill ppl in the wildy, they drop their stuff. right? so rwters can easily just tell someone to let them kill them so the person drops the money and the rwter can pick it up.
then boom, a drop trade.

and they also made it so when you drop stuff from your inventory, it wont appear to others if it is more than 3k

RWT and Scamming

There used to be this scam were fairly strong people would go into wildy and if they saw a loan player with whip they would give them a dragon long, kill them and if they wernt skulled the whip droped and the victom kept drag long as drag long was worth more in general store thats how keeping items when u die works which ones are worth more in general stores are the ones you keep. People used to make loads doing this.

^^ That's your answer.
Jagex really cracked down on RWT by bringing in higher detection systems for Autoers, bringing in 3k limit, destroying drop parties and of course this.
I don't believe they should have got rid of something so valued by so many Runescapers, but what can you do?
RWT's didn't bother me a whole lot, but these updates sure do.
But as Andrew Gower pointed out, Runescape will be ruined if we do not get rid of the RWT's

But, so many people complained about it, Jagex got messages from so many people complaining about the updates everyday, and the forum was absolutely flooded with angry members complaining that their beloved wilderness was gone.

Here is some information on the action taken by Jagex against Real World Traders (RWT)

IMO, It's not really something that can be debated. They've stated quite clearly that it was because of RWT.

They might have something "better" planned, but still, that's no reason to take out the wilderness...
