| Just to let you know...
In case it wasn't obvious to you, the latest update of the runescape rules (found in the updates thread or runescape.com main page) now means that you cannot use any 3rd party software whatsoever. This means any program not made by Jagex, such as SwiftSwitch, which was previously allowed is now no longer legal. However, the new rules were updated (again!) the very next day due to many complaints received on the official runescape forums. This now means that these 3rd party clients still cannot currently be used but will be legal once they obey additional rules. Rules for external clients I myself tend not to use external clients so the update doesn't affect me but i know a lot of people that rely on them, i would suggest not looking for other clients available or downloading any from unreliable or untrusted sources as they may contain viruses, keyloggers, etc. (I do know that the maker of SS said he would fix it over the coming weekend to comply with the new rules.) Basically, Jagex were not happy that these programs gave the users ability to hide adverts (in freeworlds), continually attempt to login to busy/ full servers (e.g. world 1) & allowing scamming in IRC chat boxes, amongst other things. The following 4 are the safest ways to play runescape without worrying about using illegal software: -Directly from RuneScape.com -Using the RuneScape Client for Windows -From the Miniclip website -From MoFunZone website If you still got any questions or your confused just post and ask. (By the way i started writing the first half of this post before finding out about the updated...well update on 03-Jan-2007.) |
