Runecrafting is the ability to make runes that are used in the Magic skill and (runecrafting) is also a great way to make money.

[edit] Training Runecrafting

Runecrafting is an extremely useful skill, especially if you are a mage. Basically you need three things,a pickaxe,a talisman or tiara, and you must have completed the Rune Mysteries quest. You need to mine rune essence from the rune essence mine and then craft it at the altar of the type of rune you want. At higher levels you can craft multiple runes per essence, for example at 99 runecrafting you get 10 air runes per essence.

                    ==The ZMI Altar==

With the release of the new ZMI altar (Members only), the type of rune you recieve is randomly selected, depending on your level. The downside is that it only accepts pure essence, and you must pay 20 runes of one type to access the nearest bank. The altar is excellent if you are crafting just for exp, but not as good if you are keeping the runes. There are also rune essence pouches that allow you to hold multiple rune essence. Their size decreases over time, however you can recharge them by speaking to the Zamorak mage who gives them to you.

[edit] How do you find your runecrafting level?

1. Go to the skills tab noted by a graph while playing the game.
2. Go down to the picture of a rock with a red arrow going through it in the first column on the seventh row.
3. Your level will be ?/? with the question marks replaced by numbers.

The first number in the sequence is what your level is at at the moment. The second number is what you have trained the skill to be.

First you need to get 25-28 rune essence. Go to Falador in World 16, and look for people saying "OPEN <The number of essence you have> essback!" Trade with them; they should give you an amount of money or air runes and the same number of essence back to you NOTED. Then run to a bank, withdraw the essence unnoted, and repeat the step until you have made all of the runes or money you want.

First,go to Falador in World 16 with at least 33 runecrafting an air tiara,and 500+ noted ess. (I recommend 44 runecrafting or 55), bring at least 50k or 2k air runes. Go near the altar and say "OPEN The number of free spaces in your inventory/the amount of money you will pay them per inventory essback" Warning,this sentence implies that you will give them noted essence back when you recieve unnoted essence so that the runner can go to the bank and unnote it for you.

[edit] The Goal Of Runecrafting

If you're a mage you can runecraft to get runes.(Runes are used to increase your magic level) You can also runecraft to sell runes for extremely high prices.

Unfortunately, runecrafting is one of those skills that is difficult to level up. One tip is to get a tiara,take the talisman of your choice to the talisman's temple, then when you get in, use the tiara on the altar, this will bind the tiara and the talisman together. Now you can wear the tiara and therefore, can carry 28 rune essence each trip instead of 27. As you increase in levels, you will be able to runecraft more runes per ess. For instance, when you get to level 11 you will be able to runecraft 2 air runes for every rune ess. This doesn't give more experience, but it gives more runes that are useful to sell and to use to train magic. The most popular way, is to make mind runes and air runes, wield a fire staff, then use the Lesser Demon in the wizard's tower as training. Runecrafting is a extremely convenient way to train magic and make money.

[edit] How to level it up faster

If you want to level it faster while getting runes then get air, water or earth runecrafting gloves to double the experience given when runecrafting. Each Glove lasts 1000 rune essence and costs 75 Fist Of Guffix Tokens which can be earned in the wilderness, Fist of guffix. If you are level 50 runecrafting and up go to the Wizard's Tower 2nd floor and enter the portal. In there you will be able to level your runecrafting while playing the game. All of this is F2P
