[edit] Runescape Ranging Skill
Ranging is the ability to attack something with a projectile from a distance without actually getting close to them. You can also shoot arrows over a fence to attack a monster or other person.
[edit] Training Range
Ranging is expensive, though not as expensive as maging. This is due, in part, to fletching and in part to the fact that you can pick up most of your arrows, darts, etc. from the ground where you shot them. One of the best ways to get experience for members is to buy a whole bunch of chinchompas, go to a multicombat zone with lots and lots of enemies, and throw chinchompas. This is because chinchompas attack multiple enemies for several seconds. This gives massive experience. The only downside is that they require 45 ranging level for normal ones and 55 for carnivorous ones. They are also rather expensive. You should only use this if you have lots of money to spare, are obsessed with ranging, or have a 53 or 63 hunting level(depending on which chinchompa you're after) so you can trap them. However, this takes a while.
[edit] How do you find your range level?
- Go to the skills tab noted by a graph while playing the game.
- Go down to the picture of a a bow and arrow in the first column on the fourth row.
- Your level will be ?/? with the question marks replaced by numbers.
[edit] What is this: ?/?
The first number in the sequence is what your level is at at the moment. It can be drained by special attacks. It can be increased by using a prayer or drinking a potion such as a ranging potion, which boosts the stat by 15%. The second number is what you have trained the skill to be and is the number that the skill would be without any potions.
[edit] Fast Way to Level Range
F2P- It is a bit harder to level as from 40-99 you can only wear green dragonhide.
- 1-20 Cows
- 20-50 Barbarians-use a safe spot
- 50-70 Hobgoblins near the crafting guild
- 60-99 Lesser Demons in Karamja volcano
P2P- Will be easier due to a larger arsenal of range weapons, arrows, and dragonhides
- 1-30 lower level animals in Ardougne zoo or kill the nearby Gnomes
- 30-50 higher level animals in Ardougne zoo
NOTE: you CANNOT retrieve arrows from caged monsters
- 40-60 Druids in Taverly
- 60-99 Fire Giants in the waterfall dungeon OR Ogres caged in King Lathas Training Camp
- 70-99 Blue Dragons in Taverly Dungeon, Ogre Enclave, or Hero's Guild Dungeon
THIS IS NOT THE ONLY OR THE BEST WAY TO TRAIN FOR EVERYONE
THIS IS MERELY A GUIDELINE
