[edit] Runescape Hunting Skill

The hunting skill is a realtivly new skill that was released in the early months on 2007. It takes you to specific places in Runescape where only thee you can do the hunting. Places like Feldip Hills south of Yanille. There are 4 different places where you can hunt certain creatures. They are the Woodlands, Jungle, Desert, and Polar. Each place has totally new creatures for you to hunt and get the items from that creature. Like the spotted cape that reduced your weight by 4kg! You can also get specific outfist by collecting furs and taking them to the clothes shop in south east varrock.

[edit] Hunting: A general overview

I know absolutely nothing about hunting other than you can get some cool outfits and it involves making traps to catch tiny animals and some large ones. Other than that and that some of the creatures can be used as weapons such as chinchompas and salamanders I know nothing.

[edit] How do you find your hunting level?

  1. Go to the skills tab noted by a graph while playing the game.
  2. Go down to the picture of a paw print in the second column on the eighth row.
  3. Your level will be ?/? with the question marks replaced by numbers.

[edit] What is this: ?/?

The first number in the sequence is what your level is at at the moment. It can be increased by drinking a potion such as a hunting potion, which raises the stat by three levels temporarily. The second number is what you have trained the skill to be and is the number that the skill would be without any potions.

[edit] Training Hunter Skill Level

Level 1-19: The easiest place to find things to hunt would be Feldip Hills south of Yanille. It Provides seven different creatures for you to hunt. But you will start with something easy since you are just beginning, If you can, teleport to castle wars and walk east to Yanille. There will be a hunter store there and you will want to buy a bird trap. That is all you need for now. Now take that bird trap, you don't really need anything else, not even food or armour. And go south past the wolves and the Ogres (might want to run) and you will find yourself in a jungle. Go east some more and you will see a beach. This is the hunting ground that you will be on for a while. Above you, you will find crimson swifts flying around everywhere. That is the thing that you are going to hunt. Just click your trap and you will set it up. All you do now is wait. Eventually a bird will come around to your trap and will land on it. One of two things will happen then. Either it will be caught and will turn upside down under the trap or it will just fly away again. It you manage to catch it then click the trap and you will get some red feathers, bones and raw bird meat. But if it flew away, take your trap down by clicking it and set it up again and wait for another bird to come along.

Level 19-31: Ok, you're getting better but your still not in the big leagues yet. The best way to get up some more levels is to just stay right where you are. Well more south but in the same place on Runescape. Your game that you are trying to catch now is called the tropical wagtail. And you will still just need the one bird trap for now. Now just do the same thing as you did before but this time you will get a whole lot more experience when you get a bird. Once you reach level 20, go back to Yanille and buy one more trap. You are now able to set up two traps at a time! So that is more birds for your time and then more experience.

Level 31-33: Either you can just stay at the tropical wagtails or you can move onto something better but more dangerous. These next prey are call Larupias. The are a decently high level and can do some damage to you. So it is best to bring either food or armour or both. But you will need at least a kinfe and a woodcutting axe and a teasing stick. You need level 10 or level 20 to cut the trees, but if you don't have that then just bring some logs of your own. But if you do have the level. Great! So now time to hunt. The larupia pits are to the east of the tropical wagtails and the south of the crimson swifts. You will see dark green patches on your mini-map. All you do is cut down a tree, and use the logs on the pit. It is best to have more than one pit at a time because you will fail sometimes. So go up to a larupia and click it. you will poke it with your teasing stick and it will star attacking you. Go towards the trap and jump over it when the larupia is near. It will try and jump over it as well, sometimes it makes it and sometimes it doesn't. It it jumps over it, you have to go to another trap and jump over that one as well. But if it jumps over that one, then you are out of luck and should start running. There isn't anything else you can do. They don't jump over the same trap twice so they are useless to you. But if they fall then click the trap and you will get either a tatty fur or a perfect fur. you will need 1 perfect fur and 2 tatty furs to make the clothes.

Level 33-45: Now you will still be able to stay at Felpdip Hills. Now all you need is a knife and an axe. Go to where some long thick stones are north of the larupias and you will see Barbed-Tailed Kebbits. All you do for these guys is chop down a tree, and use the log on the stone. It will set a deadfall and when a Kebbit comes around, he will get caught under it. When you collect the Kebbit, you will just get a barbed harpoon. You only need one of these so just drop the rest of them as you get them. These guys should be able to take you all the way to level 45 Hunter or more!

Higher levels (level 53-60) Catch chinchompas in the woodlands. all you need are box traps and... chinchompas are stackable! Yay! No running to bank or dropping loot! Thee ranging creechers sell for 500- 1k so they reely make a profit!
