[edit] Dragon Slayer

Template:InfoBox Quest

Foreword: This Quest is the hardest F2P currently and it is advised (by me) for lvl 50+ some sections of this guide, like what the people say are innacurate, i did this quest about a year ago, forgive me Jamesvernon 14:24, 9 February 2008 (CST)

[edit] Starting the quest

Talk to the Guild Master (in the Champions Guild) and ask about the rune plate. He will tell you to go to Oziach up in edgeville. Before leaving, use all the options available to you until Dragon Slayer is lit up in your quest listing (i.e. keep talking until you've started the quest). Oziach's house is just to the north-west of edgeville on the edge of the wildrness, he is the guy wearing a rune plate. Ask him about the platebody, and then carry on asking him how you can achive the title "hero" throughout the land. He will tell you that you have to kill the only and most powerful dragon in all of free to play runescape. this dragon's name is Elvarg (is that a girls's name?), he will then continue to tell you, somewhat unhappily, that the map that once lead to Crandor had been ripped into three pieces and scattered throughtout the land.

Oziach will tell that you will need an Anti-Dragon Shield to protect from the deadly flames of a dragon. Return to the Guild Master (again). Then, proceed to Lumbridge Castle; and, on the second floor (in the room with the quest start symbol) is Duke Horacio and his advisor. Ask him for 'A shield that will protect you from the dragons breath', and he'll give you one and tell you something like "use it wisely, and goodluck". Go back to the Guildmaster. Quiz him about the map pieces and he will finally give, telling you that: The first map piece is in Melzar's Maze, residing with Melzar the Mad. The Oracle of White Wolf Mountain has the second map piece and finally, Wormbrain has been jailed for stealing the third. Ask the Guild Master of the Champions Guild about Melzar's Maze and he will give you a "Maze Key". You can get another one back from him if you loose it. (even after the quest now, didn't use to be able to =))

[edit] The Maze

Before going to Melzar's Maze GET FOOD you will need it if you are a (forgive the phrase) nooby low level that is hardly ubove 65. You will be fighting a range of creatures in the maze, ranging form a lvl 3 rat, to a lvl 82 Lesser Demon. In order, you go through, Rats, Ghost, Skeletons, Zombies, Melzar and the Lesser.

Melzar's Maze is just above the rimmington yews, and just North-east of the Rimmington Centre. Use the "Maze Key" on the door to get in. From now on, you will get a different colour key, corresponding to the level floor that you are on, if you take an "exit" door at anytime, you will need to re-gain the keys again, for they disintergrate once used. To get the first key you have to kill rats. The key will be red like the doors. Go through the north most door and up the ladder.

To get the second key you'll need to kill ghosts, the key is orange. Usually you will get the key out of the "odd one" or the one that looks different. After the key is acheived, head on throught the second door from north to south.

The third key is even harder to get because lv22 skeletons need to be killed. The one that has the key has a small round shield and a weapon. kill that one and go through the last door. The west most door and head down through the hallway and down two levels.

There are Zombies that need to be killed now. If you don't get the key from the first one you kill the other has it.Do not be all 'clicky' and go and click on the "exit door"! After the next key is achieved go through the blue door.

Next you will have to kill Melzar the Mad(level-43). He's not that hard to kill and he has awsome catchphrases!he keeps making food regenerate around you. After getting the key go through the next door...the only door (dun don duuuuuh).

Now comes the hard part...for some, easy for other, killing the lesser. For the people who use range or mage attacks, there are several places that you can stand that will allow you to attack it so that it can not attack you. It only needs to be killed once for it to drop the key. Pick up the key and go through the door.

There will be a chest search it and retrieve the map piece. Then climb the ladder and you're done with Melzar's Maze.

HINT: People like to get the map piece, drop and get another one, and pick the other up incase they lose the other one

[edit] The Oracle

The oracle is on a Ice Mountain behind the north entrance to the Dwarven Mines and just south of the Black Knights Fortress. Take Lobster Pot, Wizard Mind Bomb, Silk, and Unfired Clay Bowl to the oracle. Talk to the oracle untill you find out about the door in the mines, and go in to the dwaarven mines. Follow the path into the big open area and head to the left following the wall. There will be a tunnel and at the end a door with a forcefeild around it. Click "open door" and you should go in and the items will dissapear. Alternitively (idk if this is the new one, since i did the quest before the update) Use each of the items on the door, the item will them disappear and the door will open. Search the chest and get the second map piece.

HINT: People like to get the map piece, drop and get another one, and pick the other up incase they lose the other one

Note: The Oracle will speak in a riddle. He will ask for a crustacean pot (lobster pot) the thread of a worm (silk) the drink of a wizard (wizard's mind bomb) and that should be it

[edit] Wormbrain's Map Piece

You can get the last map secion off wormbrain, who resides in Port Sarim Jail, you can get his map piece buy, Buying it, or killing him and tele grabing it. If you decided to just kill him then you do not have to speak to him. But if you aren't talk to him and ask him if he has a map piece then ask if you can buy it from him. You now have all the map pieces! congrats!

[edit] The Lady Lumbridge

Take 2,000gp to Port Sarim docks and look for the person opposite the "squire" speak to him and buy the Lady Lumbridge, use 90 Steel Nails, 3 Planks, and a Hammer to fix the boat. To fix it, Cross the gangplank. Go down one level and use the planks on the hole to fix the leaks. After repairing the hole you'll need a captain, and what better person that the rope weaver, Ned. Get food from your bank, Lobs or higher, a strength potion, full prayer and prepare for an adrenaline rush! Then, go to Draynor with the map pieces (if you haven't already use the map pieces on each other to make a whole map) and find Ned, talk to him and then ask him to be your captain. he'll say yes. I think then you talk to him and say lets go... im not sure (been a long time =p)

[edit] Elvarg

When you get to the island your boat has crashed (would do wouldn't it?). Start by making your way to the center of the island avoiding all the beast there, so that you conserve your food. (run if possible)Once in the centre, go down the hole. There will be several monsters down there such as: more skeletons, lesser demons. First RUN past the entrance to Elvarg, and past the lesser demons and go through the wall so your character knows where it is (in other words, so you dont have to take the journet again). Then make sure you have your anti dragon shield equipped. Return back to the low wall and jump over the low part of the wall. Kill Elvarg (use magic protect, im sure it protects from her fire, drink strgth pot regulary and use slash when you have a lot of fish left, block when 5 or less left, Once dead) take her head. (lol rhymes)

Note: Actually going to kill Elvarg is not recommended unless you are a)lvl 45+ b)wearing full rune with either addamant platebody or rune chainbody with an anti-dragonfire sheild(NEEDED UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET KILLED BY HER FIRE) c)have at least half an inventory of lobsters and half of trout or another good food swordfish highly recommended and d)have either a rune weapon OR the best range/mage weapon you posses. Using the protect item prayer is highly recommended. If you go with a rune scimitar, full rune with anti-dragonfire sheild and whatever plate or chainbody you have and use protect item, then when you die, you should only lose your food. Protect from ranged prayer is highly recommended.

Note: There is no place in Elvargs cage that she cannot hit you. Her breath is an actual ranged attack and if you hide from her, she will only use her breath which deals MASSIVE damage especially if you are not wearing your anti-dragonfire sheild.

[edit] Finishing the Quest

Take Elvarg's head to Oziach. You have now completed the quest and can wear rune plate bodies, and green dragonhide bodies. You also get 18,650XP in Defence and Strength as well as 2 Quest Points,
