There are many differnents armours in Runescape.

The basic melee armors are Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamite, Rune and Dragon. The basic range armors are Leather, Hard Leather, Studded Leather and Dragonhide. The basic mage armours are Blue and Black Mage Robes, Splitbark and Mystic's.

The following also come in trimmed and gold trimmed varietys: Black, Adamite, Rune, Studded Leather,Dragonhide and Blue and Black Mage Robes.

Rune can also come in god varietys, Such as Guthix( green trim ), Zamorak( red trim ) and Saradomin ( white trim. )

A full set of Melee armour consists of a Full Helmet, Platebody, Kiteshield and Platelegs. The only melee armour with an exception is dragon, which has a Chainmail and Square shield.

A full set or range consists of Legs, a Body, Coif , and Vambraces.

A full set of mage consists of a Robe, Skirt, Hat, Gloves, and Boots.

If you are a low level starting out I would suggest iron or steel to begin training with because it's cheap but it still protects you.

But if you are really new, go to varrok and get a leather body and go attack chickens with your starting bronze sword.

If you need armour you can either buy it or make it. For buying armour there are numerous shops around runescape where you can buy different types of armour. If you can not be bothered going around runescape to the different shops you can buy the armour from players, the best place to buy stuff for non-members is the Varrock banks
