Introduction: The legendary Shield of Arrav has been stolen from the Varrock Museum. The curator needs yours, and an others help to retrieve the two split pieces stolen from opposing thieves.

The Guide:

The first and most important part of this quest is to get a partner who will chose the opposite Gang as you. You can ask your friends, look up on some forums, ask some random people etc…
There are two Gangs you can chose from, and once you do, you will remain in that Gang forever, so it is important to chose the right Gang. Black arm is the best choice, as it makes the quest quicker, and you get an easier role in Hero’s Quest. The only downside from choosing the Black Arm Gang, is that you have to kill a level 23 enemy, oppose to the level 2 “Jonny” you must kill if you chose the Phoenix Gang. The Phoenix Chamber is also notably bigger and nicer looking than the Black Arm Headquarters.

Black Arm Gang

1. Talk to Charlie the Tramp who is wandering outside of the Varrock Sword Shop. He will tell you about the Black Arm Gang. Go inside the buildings to the west from the Tramp, an talk to Katrine. Don’t tell her where you heard about her gang, and ask to join it. She will tell you that if you steal two Phoenix crossbows, she will let you join.
2. Once your friend has progressed in the quest, he will retrieve a “weapon store key”. Retrieve the key from him (it is tradable, but it cant be sold on the grand exchange), an go to southern Varrock where there is a locked door. Use the key on the door, and go up the stairs.
3. You will see a level 23 “Weapon master” there that you need to defeat. He is fairly easy, and has only 20 hp. After you killed him, you can pick up the two crossbow’s, and return to Katrine. Now that you are officially a member of the Black Arm, go through the now accessible door, up the stairs, and search the cupboard for half of the Shield of Arrav.

Phoenix Gang

1. Talk to Reldo in the Varrock Library, an ask him for a quest. He will tell you to look for a blue book (just keep searching the bookshelves till you fin it). Read or skim through the book and talk to Reldo again. He will tell you to go speak to the Varrock fur trader about the Phoenix Gang.
2. Go to Varrock square, and ask Baraek about the gang. He will ask for 20 coins for the information, so have it ready. You will then learn that the hideout is located in the south east of Varrock. Go down the ladder marked with a “!”, and find Straven. Tell him you know he is in the Black Arm, and you would like to join. He will tell you to kill an enemy of his named Jonny.
3. Go to the Varrock Blue Moon Inn, an find “Jonny the beard”, and kill him. He will drop a report that you need to return to Straven. Once you talk to him with the report in your inventory, you are officially a member of the Phoenix Gang.
4. You will be given a key by Straven that you need to give to your partner. Once finished, go back to the hideout, and search the south-western chest, and you will get half of the Shield of Arrav.
   

Ending the quest:
Once you have retrieved your shield part, make your way to King Ronald in the Varrock Palace. He will tell you to go speak to the Curator in the museum east of the palace. Use your shield half on him, and he will give you two identical halves of a certificate.
Trade one half of a certificate for a different half with your partner. Put the two different halves together, and take the completed certificate to the king.
